Instance Pilot Privacy Policy
Instance Pilot is a macOS multi-instance manager that helps users inspect selected applications, review compatibility evidence, launch multiple instances, manage running instances, and save reusable Launch Sets.
1. Local-First Privacy Model
Instance Pilot is designed as a local-first utility. The app does not require a developer-operated account, cloud service, analytics service, advertising SDK, or third-party tracking service.
Instance Pilot does not upload your selected applications, Launch Sets, launch configurations, process information, or activity history to the developer or to any third-party server.
2. User-Selected Applications
Instance Pilot works only with applications selected by the user. The app may read information from a selected application bundle in order to display metadata and perform compatibility checks. This may include:
- Application name, version, build number, bundle identifier, and executable information
- Application icon and bundle structure
- Code-signing and entitlement information used for compatibility evidence
- Limited technical indicators related to launch behavior and application structure
Instance Pilot does not modify, patch, inject code into, duplicate, or alter selected applications.
3. Compatibility and Runtime Information
When you run a compatibility check or runtime test, Instance Pilot may inspect local application metadata and observe local process information such as process identifiers, process state, launch timing, and executable identity.
This information is used only to provide compatibility evidence, confirm whether distinct application processes are running, and safely manage instances launched by Instance Pilot.
Instance Pilot does not automatically send compatibility results, process information, or diagnostic data to the developer.
4. Information Stored Locally
Instance Pilot may store the following information locally on your Mac:
- Launch Sets created by the user
- Selected app references and related metadata needed to reuse a saved setup
- Instance count and launch interval
- Launch arguments and non-sensitive environment variable values saved by the user
- Application preferences and local activity information
Local data is stored in the app's Application Support area or other storage location allowed by macOS.
5. Launch Arguments and Environment Variables
Instance Pilot may let you provide launch arguments and environment variables for a selected application. These values are used only for the launch operation you request.
Environment variable names that appear sensitive, such as passwords, tokens, secrets, API keys, authentication values, or credentials, are not stored in plain text in saved Launch Set data. When required, those values are requested again for the current launch operation.
You are responsible for the values you enter and for understanding how the selected target application handles them.
6. Process Management
Instance Pilot manages only application processes that it has launched and observed as managed instances. Process information such as PID, state, timestamps, and launch configuration may be kept in memory during app use.
Instance Pilot is designed to act on exact managed instances and does not intentionally control unrelated applications or processes.
7. Process Independence and Data Independence
Multiple running processes do not necessarily have independent application data. Selected applications may still share preferences, databases, containers, accounts, caches, or other resources.
Instance Pilot does not create separate virtual machines, clone application data, or provide guaranteed data isolation between instances.
8. macOS Permissions and App Access
Instance Pilot may use standard macOS capabilities needed for user-selected app access, local file access, application launching, compatibility inspection, and management of instances launched by the app.
Where macOS requires user authorization, access is controlled by macOS and can be reviewed or revoked through system settings or by changing the selected application.
9. Logs and Diagnostics
Instance Pilot does not automatically send logs or diagnostic data to the developer. If you contact support, you may choose to provide screenshots, error messages, compatibility details, or other information to help troubleshoot an issue.
10. Children’s Privacy
Instance Pilot is a productivity and developer utility and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when Instance Pilot changes its features or privacy practices. The updated date will be shown at the top of this page.
12. Contact and Support
